Environmental Controls
The full enclosure of waste throughout the composting process is a fundamental design principle of the New Earth system.
Fully contained
From waste delivery through to grading of the finished product, all elements of the process are contained within a managed environment. The unique dynamics of the design ensure complete containment, even during the transfer of material between process stages.

Automated aeration
Emissions management and treatment
Leachate capture and treatment
Odour nuisance
Odour is kept to the absolute minimum in the New Earth process. Offensive odours are negated through the use of automated process management systems. These ensure that the aerobic conditions required for effective composting are maintained at all times.
Windrows of composting material are aerated by means of radial fans connected to sub surface ducts. Fresh air is drawn through the waste into these ducts, allowing the used air to be captured and treated, prior to release.
Air within the ducts is pumped to an on-site plant, where odours, bio aerosols, particulates and ammonia are treated. Independent consultants have assessed and reported on the efficiency of our emission treatment system.
As the composting process is fully enclosed, minimal quantities of leachate are produced. Any leachate that does result is drained via sub surface aeration ducts and contained in dedicated knock-out pots. From there, it can either be treated and used in the composting process or safely discharged to foul sewer. |
